Crowns are fixed covers or caps that structurally support teeth. They can be either gold or porcelain to match your own tooth colour. Crowns are tightly bonded to the tooth and/or teeth, and are used to repair teeth that have been badly broken, have had a root canal filling, are malformed, discolored, or to create a better bite.
The procedure begins by trimming the tooth, then taking an impression (mold) of the top and bottom teeth. A crown is then fabricated to fit over the trimmed tooth. Lastly, the crown is then cemented or bonded to complete the restoration of the tooth, creating a perfectly balanced smile.
